Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte toured an Italian field hospital in Beirut during a visit to Lebanon's blast-hit capital on Tuesday.
Conte visited Italy's 34-bed military field hospital at the Lebanese University's Hadat Campus after earlier touring Beirut's blast-devastated port and holding talks with the country's top officials and with civil society organisations at the Italian embassy.
Patients at the hospital are being treated for broken bones, wounds and crush injuries sustained in the 4 August explosion ant Beirut's port in which some 200 people died and thousands were injured.
The field hospital also has three intensive care units and its staff is drawn from the 180-strong 'Safe Cedars' military mission to Lebanon that kicked off in late August.
