Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte, his Libyan counterpart Fayez al-Saraj, held talks in Rome on Thursday that centred on stabilising Libya, on bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries said a statement from Conte's office.
The talks covered the current situation in war-torn Libya and the political process mediated by the United Nations, as well as economic, security and migration collaboration with Italy, according to the statement.
"From the Italian side broad support was expressed for Libya following the road map set out by the Berlin Process, especially given the encouraging progress made in the talks in Geneva involving the Joint Military Commission and in view of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum," the statement said.
Foreign minister Luigi Di Maio and his Libyan counterpart Mohammed Siyala also took part in the talks which were held at the prime minister's office (Palazzo Chigi), the statement said.
