Rome-based UN Food and Agriculture Organisation director-general Qu Dongyu on Thursday thanked premier Giuseppe Conte for a new global alliance to help end hunger and foster sustainable agriculture in the wake of the Cornavirus pandemic.
"Pleased to launch the #FoodCoalition today, at a time of new & unprecedented challenges that threaten lives, livelihoods & food security worldwide," read the tweet.
"My gratitude to @GiuseppeConteIT, @CarolaSchouten, @TawakkolKarman, @DrMuhammadYunus & others for your support."
Qu referred to the Netherlands deputy prime minister and two Nobel laureates who together with Qu and Conte attended Thursday's launch of the voluntary multi-stakeholder, multi-sector alliance.
Italy proposed the Food Coalition and will promote it during its G20 presidency next year.
