Police have arrested an Egyptian and a Ukranian labourer over the alleged gang-rape of a female Swedish tourist in Rome, and have identified a third suspect, reports said on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Ukrainian and the 26-year-old Egyptian were arrested late Wednesday over the alleged gang-rape an apartment in central Rome in September, police said.
Police gave no further information on the identity of the third suspect, who the Swedish tourist said kept watch while the Egyptian and the Ukranian took turns to rape her for hours.
The woman told police that after spending the evening in various bars in central Rome with friends, she met the trio, who offered to accompany her back to the apartment where she was staying and once there plied her with drugs and alcohol before raping her.
