Agricultural workers are "sons of God" and should receive fair pay for their "vital contribution to humanity" Pope Francis said on Tuesday in a message posted to Vatican Radio's website.
"Thank you small farmers. You make a vital contribution to humanity. As a person, a son of God, you deserve dignity," Francis said in the video and audio message.
Land is a gift from God and it is morally wrong that only a few should benefit from it at the expense of most people's rights, he stated.
"Please all of you join me in asking for fair pay for agricultural workers in return for their precious work," Francis said.
