A Turin-Naples express train struck and killed a 19-year-old woman on Wednesday at Milan's Certosa station as she crossed the tracks, police said.
The incident happened at 7.48 am and the woman, who was wearing headphones, apparently did not hear the oncoming train, Milan-based daily Corriere della Sera said on its website.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene of the accident, which caused a 50 minute delay for passengers at the station.
Police were investigating the incident and said they had not ruled out suicide.
A 46-year woman was killed at the station in similar circumstances in December, 2014.
