Italian authorities have deported a 37-year-old Tunisian who showed "clear signs of radicalisation" and who had re-entered Italy in breach of an earlier expulsion order, the interior ministry said on Friday.
The suspect was deported aboard a flight from Palermo airport, the ministry stated.
He had been held in a nearby expulsion centre since October after he was intercepted by port officials in the Sicilian coastal town of Mazara del Vallo aboard a small boat that was trying to land, the ministry said.
The Tunisian was previously deported from Italy in February after serving time in prison for 'common crimes'. He was the 107th suspected religious extremist to be expelled from Italy this year and the 344th since the start of 2015, the ministry stated.
