Jihadists could hide among rescued migrants aboard the Italian coastguard ship Diciotti and pose a terrorism threat, interior ministry undersecretary Nicola Molteni claimed in an interview on Tuesday.
"There is a general risk. The phenomenon of illegal immigration brings with it the risk of infiltration by Islamist terrorists, especially foreign fighters," Molteni told Italian public radio Radio 1.
"A serious government" must be aware of this threat "for the country's security", Molteni added.
