Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, held "productive" talks in Tripoli on Monday with Libya's deputy premier Ahmed Maitig and its interior minister Fathi Bashaga, the Italian embassy tweeted.
The talks with Bashaga "touched on various themes, from security in the war-torn country to "preparations for a Berlin conference to restart political dialogue, improving conditions in migrant detention centres to battling graft and illegal immigration," read the tweet.
Buccino and Maitig "reviewed international efforts to end to the Libyan crisis and action for development including in the (southern) Fezzan region and the fight against corruption," the tweet added.
