Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio spoke by phone on Thursday with his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, the foreign minister said in a statement without giving any further information.
The Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and prospects for stronger bilateral cooperation were the focus of Di Maio and Mnatsakanyan's phone talks, Mnatsakanyan tweeted.
"Held phonecall with good colleague Italy's FM Luigi Di Maio, expressed solidarity and strong support in fight against Covid-19," read the tweet.
"Strong civilizational links forge friendship. Will advance bilateral coop in many fields, including economy and trade, multilateral cooperation and regional peace," the tweet added.
