A total 850 Italians returned to Italy over night by ferry from Morocco in what was the fifth such repatriation operation since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year, the embassy tweeted.
So far some 7,500 Italian citizens have been repatriated from Morocco in 20 operations, according to the tweet.
Italy's foreign ministry and its network of embassies and consulates have arranged the repatriation of over 105,000 Italians worldwide since countries closed their borders and halted international flights amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
