UK authorities on Monday released an unnamed 48-year-old Italian and a 34-year-old Kuwaiti national without charge after detaining the pair at London's Stansted airport aboard a Ryanair flight from Vienna.
Armed anti-terror police boarded the plane and arrested the two men on arrival at Stanstead on Sunday after an unidentified object - reportedly a mobile phone - was located in the plane's toilet.
Counter-terrorism police later tweeted that the suspicious object was "found not to be of concern".
RAF Typhoon jets were scrambled within minutes after the pilot raised the alarm in-flight on Sunday and escorted the plane to Stanstead.
