Italian soldiers have cleared 1,500 tonnes of rubble from Beirut's port following the devastating explosion there in August which killed over 190 people, injured over 6,000 and left some 300,000 homeless.
"Operation 'Emergenza Cedri' by the Italian Army Engineering Corps continues rubble removals in Beirut's port, Gemmayze and Mar Mikhail, with 1500 tons of debris cleared so far," Italy's embassy in Lebanon tweeted.
The 4 August happened when 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate detonated at a warehouse in the port. The chemicals had been stored at warehouse unsafely for years.
