Tens of thousands of Albanian small-to-medium-sized companies operating in Italy "make an excellent contribution" to the national economy, prime minister Giuseppe Conte said on Thursday.
"There are 30,000 Albanian SMEs in Italy and we acknowledge that they make an excellent contribution to our economy," Conte told reporters.
Speaking at a press conference in Rome after talks with his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama, Conte said the government was also mooting possible social security accords with Albania.
"We will also assess together the feasibility of reaching social security agreements," Conte said.
Albania is hoping to soon start membership talks with the European Union - a bid strongly supported by Italy, according to Conte.
