NEW YORK, Sept. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Campaign Monitor, a global leader in SaaS-based email marketing, today announced that Alex Bard, former Executive Vice President and GM of Service Cloud at Salesforce.com, has joined the company as CEO and member of the Board of Directors.  Mr. Bard brings over 15 years of experience in leading high-growth SaaS businesses to this new role. His deep knowledge of digital customer engagement solutions will help accelerate global expansion of Campaign Monitor, which currently has over 100,000 paying customers in 170 countries. Mr. Bard's appointment enables co-founders and Board of Director members Ben Richardson and Dave Greiner to focus exclusively on product development and innovation.

His leadership will enhance Campaign Monitor's ongoing work to provide innovative email marketing options to a wide range of clients, be they creative agencies, high-growth businesses or multinational organizations," said Greiner. "This announcement showcases what an exciting time it is to work at Campaign Monitor, as we continue to make key investments to ensure that we remain a global leader in helping our clients communicate and distribute content."

Mr. Bard's appointment comes on the heels of several major announcements from the company. In April, Insight Venture Partners, a leading global private equity and venture capital firm headquartered in New York, invested US$250 million in Campaign Monitor to help the company continue to capitalize on the global demand for its solutions. In June, the company announced the launch of Canvas, an innovative tool for building beautiful emails that look great across any device.

"Campaign Monitor has been profitable every quarter since it was launched in 2004 and has established itself as a creative, disruptive force within the email marketing sector," said Deven Parekh, Managing Director at Insight Venture Partners and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Campaign Monitor. "Alex's leadership will further catalyze the company's growth in current and future markets."

Mr. Bard is a passionate entrepreneur who has been part of the founding team of four internet startups, including eShare Technologies, eAssist Global Solutions, Goowy Media and Assistly. He was the CEO of Assistly when it was acquired by Salesforce.com in September of 2011. Following the acquisition, Mr. Bard was promoted to EVP and GM of Service Cloud at Salesforce.com.  In 2013 Forbes Magazine named Mr. Bard to the list of the Rising Stars at The World's Most Innovative Companies. He was also listed to Business Insider's 15 Enterprise Tech Rock Stars You've Never Heard Of But Should Know.

"Digital communications is rapidly becoming the foundation of any company's communications efforts with their internal and external stakeholders. Campaign Monitor is focused on helping clients grow their digital audiences through revolutionary solutions in email marketing," noted Mr. Bard.
