China, especially the issue of human rights, was a "central theme" of the G7 foreign and development ministers' summit in London on Tuesday, Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio stated.
"China was a central theme, particularly the subject of human rights, as well as keeping dialogue channels open on topics like climate and environmental sustainability, where China is an essential player," Di Maio said.
"Democracy and respect for the individual are non-negotiable values. And the international community must be united on this front," Di Maio wrote later in a Facebook post
The G7 meeting, which is taking place in London, wraps up on Wednesday.
