Italy's populist premier Giuseppe Conte will take part in a two-day summit of European Union and League of Arab States leaders which kicks off Sunday in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, Conte's office said in a statement.
The first such Arab-European summit aims to deepen collaboration between European and Arab states on key regional issues, including migration, terrorism, and climate change, but few tangible results are expected from the gathering, according to observers.
Britain's prime minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Dutch premier Mark Rutte are also among more than 20 EU leaders expected to attend the summit, which is due to be opened by Egypt's president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
