Priorities for Italy's presidency of the G20, cooperation in the fight against COVID-19 and on global economic revival after the pandemic were at the centre of phone talks Friday between Italy's premier Mario Draghi and his Japanese counterpart Yoshihide Suga.
"The discussion was focused on the collaboration within the framework of the G7 and the Italian presidency of the G20; on the fight against COVID-19 and on post-pandemic recovery," Draghi's office said in a statement.
Draghi and Suga's conversation also covered "strengthening regional and bilateral cooperation," the statement added.
Suga, who is president of the ruling conservative Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, became the country's prime minister in September last year. Draghi, an economist with no political affiliation has been in office since February at the helm of a national unity government.
