The COVID-19 pandemic has made dialogue and diplomacy more difficult at a time when a coordinated, international response to the global crisis is ever-more crucial, Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte said Friday.
"COVID-19 has not only made it harder for us to be close to those we hold dear. It has also complicated diplomacy and dialogue between countries - activities that are even more essential than ever," he stated.
"A global emergency requires a coordinated, international response, especially in regions that are highly inter-dependent, such as Europe and the Mediterranean," Conte added.
Conte was making closing remarks at the 2020 Mediterranean Dialogues forum, which this year was held online.
