Italy on Tuesday sent condolences to families of the victims of wildfires in Algeria that have killed over 40 people including 25 soldiers and destroyed thousands of olive trees, cattle and chicken.
"Italy's embassy in Algiers shares the pain of the families of the victims of the wildfires in Algeria. Italy, which this year is Europe's worst-hit country for wildfires, faces a very serious situation," read a tweet.
"We stand with you," the tweet added.
Algeria's government has asked for help from the international community and is in talks with partners to hire planes to extinguish the wildfires that broke out in the Kabyle region east of the capital on Monday.
