Foreign under-secretary Benedetto Della Vedova will on Wednesday begin a visit to Paris, where he will hold talks with members of the French government and parliament, the heads of Italy's cultural institutes in France and UNESCO chiefs.
Della Vedova's visit will assess progress on the relocation of the patents court's central division to London, as well as key issues on the international agenda, bilateral cooperation and human rights, according to a statement.
Della Vedova will meet members of France's lower and upper house of parliament's Italy-French friendship groups and will hold talks with Christian Cambon, who chairs the Senate's foreign and defence affairs committee, according to the statement.
A focus of Della Vedova's visit will be Italian emigration and culture in France and he will chair a meeting with Italy's consul generals and the directors of Italy's cultural institutes. On Thursday, Della Vedova will visit the Leonardo Da Vinci Italian state school and meet teachers and students and will then take part in the closing event of the 'Archipelaghi' exhibition on Italy's small islands, the statement said.
Della Vedova will wrap up his trip with a visit to UNESCO headquarters, where he will hold talks with top officials including Stefania Giannini, assistant director-general for education and will met several delegations to promote Italy's candidacy for membership of the UN body's world heritage committee.
On Friday, Della Vedova will hold a press briefing at the Italian embassy.
