Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio is opening an "exchange of views" on the Middle East and Africa taking place at the G7 foreign ministers meeting, which kicks off the in northern Germany on Thursday, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The meeting being held at Weissenhaus castle in Schleswig-Holstein through Friday will focus on the war in Ukraine and its consequences at regional and global level, as well as the climate crisis and its impact on security, according to the statement.
The resilience of democracies, China and the Indo-Pacific, and Africa, are also on the meeting agenda, the statement said.
An informal NATO foreign ministers meeting will be held in Berlin from Friday through Saturday "to discuss the impact of the situation in Ukraine on Euro-Atlantic security, and preparation for the forthcoming (June) NATO Summit in Madrid," said the statement.
Di Maio was expected to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of both meetings, the statement noted.
