Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio was on Thursday due to hold talks in Rome with Palestinian Authority foreign minister Riad Maliki after PA president Mahmoud Abbas last week delayed landmark polls slated for 22 May.
After his talks with Malki, Di Maio was set to meet his Malian counterpart Alhamdou Ag Ilyene, according to a foreign ministry statement.
Di Maio and Iyene's talks are "a further, significant step in strengthening ties between Italy and the Sahel region following Minister Di Maio's visit to Bamako last month," the statement said.
Di Maio will also meet Slovak foreign minister Ivan Korcok on Thursday at the foreign ministry "for an exchange of views on the main European and international issues," the statement added.
