Italy will keep up its efforts to obtain a humanitarian truce in Ukraine leading to a lasting peace settlement, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio tweeted on Monday.
"We'll keep working for a ceasefire and we urge a de-escalation. We'll give it our all to obtain a humanitarian truce and peace and stability once again in Ukraine and in Europe," read the tweet
"We won't threats stop our condemnation of Putin's war," the tweet added, referring to the full-scale military offensive against Ukraine launched on 24 February by Russia's president, Vladimir Putin.
Di Maio's tweet came after he received solidarity from premier Mario Draghi and other ministers for death threats made against him on social media by pro-Putin extremists over his criticism of the war in Ukraine.
