The Coronavirus pandemic and efforts to mitigate its effect on food supplies, agriculture and agri-food systems were the focus of phone talks Tuesday between Italy's premier Mario Draghi and UN Food and Agriculture Organization chief Qu Dongyu.
"Given the pandemic's impact, cooperation in the fields of food security, sustainable agriculture and resilience of the agri-food systems amid were discussed within the framework of the Italian G20 Presidency and in view of the UN Food Systems Summit in September," said a statement from Draghi's office.
A preparatory event for the UN Food Systems Summit will be held in July in Rome, where FAO is headquartered. Italy holds the G20 presidency this year.
