Eni has been included in Euronext's new MIB® ESG blue-chip index for Italy based on environment, social and corporate governance best practices, the energy giant said in a statement on Monday.
"This is a further important recognition by the financial community of the strategic plan developed and implemented by Eni, which pursues ESG best practices in a concrete, structured and effective way," said Eni chief executive Claudio Descalzi.
The approach "will lead us to net zero emissions of industrial processes and products by 2050, positioning us as a leading company in the production and marketing of decarbonised products," Descalzi went on.
Launched by Euronext, the MIB® ESG index has been made operational by V.E., part of ratings agency Moody's ESG solutions, according to the statement.
The index was developed according to a methodology shared with the financial community, public and regulatory authorities, the statement said.
Eni has progressively expanded its ESG approach, integrating these themes within its mission and governance model, business strategies, operational approach and reporting.
