Italy is "in deep sorrow" for and stands ready to help the victims of the worst flooding in decades which has killed at least 120 people in western Europe this week, leaving hundreds more missing and homeless.
"Devastating floods are further hitting Europe. We are in deep sorrow for the victims and our solidarity goes to the people in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, France, and Switzerland," the foreign ministry tweeted.
"We stand ready to provide any assistance," the tweet underlined.
