The upcoming Expo 2020 Dubai offers opportunities for Italy and the UAE to boost bilateral trade through their companies, and for firms to share technology, according to Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio.
In talks with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdallah bin Zayed al- Nahyan during a two-day visit to the country: "We discussed new opportunities that we will have this year through Italian and UAE businesses," Di Maio stated on Monday.
"During our talks we agreed on the strategic nature of the economic partnership between our countries. Tomorrow I will in augurate the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 - visible evidence of the importance we attach to the most advanced technology and to promoting Italian Exports," read a Facebook post by Di Maio.
Di Maio's talks with bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Sunday covered bilateral relations, dialogue on regional issues and the upcoming inauguration of Expo 2020 Dubai, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Expo 2020 Dubai was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will kick off in October.
