The upcoming Expo Dubai world fair in Dubai offers a major chance for Italy to showcase its exports and for its regions to attract new business, according to foreign minister Luigi Di Maio.
"Expo Dubai, which opens in the next few days, will be a great opportunity to better promote Italy's economy through its regions, towns and companies," Di Maio told the Festival of Cities meeting in Rome on Tuesday.
Through the Italian trade agency (ICE), the foreign ministry has earmarked 57 million euros from 2020-2021 to boost high-quality exports through "numerous" trade fairs, Di Maio stated.
"We're working on a special communications campaign focused on Italian trade fairs with an international dimension. The campaign is for 2022 fairs and will centre on several priority European markets," he added.
