Four families had to leave their apartments on Thursday and a road was closed when a cloudburst caused a wall to collapse in the northwest port city of Genoa.
Firemen were called to Via G.B.D'Abertis in northeast Genoa shortly before 6am after a wall fell down when rainwater flooded a store.
Four nearby apartments in the street were evacuated and part of an adjacent street was closed after scaffolding became unstable. according to fire services.
No one was injured by the wall's collapse, emergency services said.
Heavy storms and torrential rains are forecast in Liguria and Piedmont and in the western island region of Sardinia on Thursday. These will spread to the northern Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna regions and to Umbria and Tuscany in central Italy on Friday, according to the forecasts.
