Fantastic Final at the Red Sea Kitesurf World Cup in Egypt

Poland'sKarolina Winkowska and Begium´s Tack win the World Cup premiere at the Red Sea  

The Red Sea Kitesurf World Cup concluded on Sunday with the world's best freestylers competing in a first-class finale. With more than force six winds, the soaring acrobats displayed breathtaking their aerial manoeuvres over the Red Sea and thrilled spectators on the beach of Soma Bay. Karolina Winkowska and Christophe Tack proved unbeatable and went down in kitesurfing history as the winners of the first ever World Cup to be held in the land of the pharaohs.

The winners were delighted about a very special well-wisher: The Egyptian Minister of Tourism Hischam Sasou personally followed the final contest at the Red Sea World Cup. "This event exceeded all our expectations. The riders exhibited first-rate performances and it got publicity all over the world," said the Minister of Tourism.

"I'm incredibly proud to have won this great premiere in Egypt," said a delighted Winkowska after winning the finals against Gisela Pulido from Spain. Third place amongst the women went to Annelous Lammerts from the Netherlands. Ranking first in the world, Christophe Tack dominated the men's competition, leaving his opponent in the final, Liam Wahley from Spain, no chance. Tack said: "It's amazing enough to kitesurf in such unbelievable conditions, but then to win is simply incredible." Occupying third place is Alexandre Neto from Brasil.

Over four days, the world's best freestylers battled for victory in world-class duels on the Red Sea. With prize money of $57,000 USD for one discipline, the first Kitesurf World Cup in Egypt paid out the highest amount on the PKRA World Tour.
