United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation director-General Qu Dongyu and its chief Economist Maximo Torero will on Thursday address a high-level digital forum aimed at identifying the risks and opportunities that digital technologies present for agriculture.
The International Platform for Digital Food and Agriculture will be held in Washington DC and be webcasted and held on Zoom and will include question-and-answer session in which Qu and Torero will take part, according to an FAO statement.
Panellists at the forum also include government ministers, top representatives of international organisations, notably the World Farmers' Organisation, other UN agencies and Microsoft Corporation, the statement said.
The event aims to "advise stakeholders and drive the exchange of ideas and experiences to help everyone along the agri-food value chain harness the opportunities represented by digitalization," said the statement.
