Fincantieri delivers new ultra-luxury cruise ship for Norwegian brand

Italy's Fincantieri on Thursday delivered at its Ancona yard the second ultra-luxury cruise ship it has built for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, a brand of the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, the company said in a statement.

Like her sister ship Seven Seas Explorer, Seven Seas Splendor is 55,000 gross tons, 224 metres long and is able to accommodate 750 passengers on board in 375 spacious suites all including private balconies, the statement said.

Seven Seas Splendor is the fifth all-suite vessel in Regent’s fleet, which all feature the latest environmental-friendly technologies. Like the others, the cruise liner boasts sophisticated interiors and fine craftsmanship with attention paid to passenger comfort, said the statement.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises already ordered Fincantieri a third unit of the series, which will be delivered in 2023.

Thursday's ceremony was attended by Jason Montague, President and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and by Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of the Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division.

Fincantieri, one of the world's largest shipbuilding groups, has built 97 cruise ships since 1990 and other 49 ships are currently being designed or built in all the group’s yards.

The company is a leader in all high-tech shipbuilding industry sectors, from naval to offshore vessels, high-complexity special vessels and ferries to mega yachts, ship repairs and conversions, mechanical and electrical component equipment and systems production, according to the statement.
