Shelling by the Turkish army and air raids by the US-led coalition killed five Islamic State jihadists in northern Syria, Turkish media reported on Tuesday, citing security sources.
Two armed vehicles, eight buildings, three mortar shells and one defence position belonging to the jihadist group were also destroyed in Monday's attacks, Turkey's state-run Anadolu and private Dogan news agencies said.
The operation came after Turkish target acquisition systems detected 13 IS targets allegedly preparing an attack on Turkey from Syria, according to the reports.
IS militants have launched rocket attacks against towns and cities in southern Turkey, killing and injuring "many" civilians since mid-January, Dogan said.
In a separate development, seven suspected IS jihadists were detained on Tuesday after local police broke up an alleged IS cell in the southeastern Turkish city of Kahraman Maras, Dogan reported.
