A total five million people have now fled war-afflicted Ukraine, United Nations refugee agency UNHCR's chief Filippo Grandi tweeted on Wednesday, appealing for an end to the devastating conflict.
"They have left behind their homes and families. Many would do anything, and some even risk going back, to see their loved ones," read the tweet.
"But every new attack shatters their hopes. Only an end to the war can pave the way for rebuilding their lives," the tweet added.
