Under the theme "Discovering IT dreams, Sharing Digital Time", the expo, the largest and most comprehensive consumer electronics show in Asia, aims to offer exhibitors a platform to deepen their understanding of industry trends, seek consolidated ties with global business partners, and serve as an eye-opener to visitors.

The annual trade show, hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Shenzhen municipal government, has attracted 1,500 exhibitors who will not only display their products and technologies on the three-day event at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Centre, but also gain access to the key policymakers, exchange vitally important information on the further development of the industry and seek valuable business opportunities.

The organizers are committed to drawing leading industry players, influential researchers, capable engineers and discerning visitors from around the globe to provide a vivid snapshot of the digitalized world of the future, driving the expo to be one of the world's first-class electronics fairs.

The trade show, covering a total floor space of more than 100,000 square meters, is expected to draw 100,000 visitors and over 3,000 products and technologies. In addition, about 40 high-level forums, seminars and ceremonies will be held to gain an insight into the trend of the industry.

Big-name industry leaders including Changhong, Alibaba, SAP and SPREADTRUM will flock to the show to display products and technologies that will change to people's lives in future. Highlights include smart cars, jetpacks, intelligent medical diagnostic systems, cloud-computing products and new display technologies.

Intelligent speech and language technologies developed iFLYTEK, Kuang Chi Science's eye-catching jetpacks, drones made by DJI, Alibaba's Smile to Pay -- a face swiping payment technology -- Noitom's motion capture system, and robots used for catering services have all captivated hundreds of visitors with first-hand experiences.

On April 10, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Shenzhen government will host the Innovation Academician Forum: Discuss the Future of Industry 4.0 and Intelligence System with Academicians at which a clutch of top scientists, researchers and senior company executives will shed light on how robots and intelligent systems enhance the living standards of people and create revolutionary new ways of life.

"I believe about 70 per cent of the world's consumer electronic devices are manufactured here in the south of China," said Stefan Mozar, past president of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Consumer Electronics Society. "We feel we need come early and work with the people locally to exchange and learn from both sides."
