Italy's defence minister Lorenzo Guerini on Thursday underlined the government's ongoing support for Ukraine's army and its counter-offensive.
"Reaffirmed our support to Kiev and to Ukraine's resistance," Guerini tweeted from a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at the US Ramstein airbase in southwest Germany.
"Italy will be equal to its responsibilities," the tweet underlined.
At the Ramstein meeting, military leaders and ministers were due to discuss how to continue support for Ukraine in the long term.
The meeting came as Ukraine’s military made gains in its two-week-old counter-offensive in the southern Kherson region and in a "surprise" offensive in the northeastern Kharkiv region that began less than two days ago, according to Ukrainian officials and observers.
