Premier Giuseppe Conte authorised the departure from Rome's Ciampino military airport of an air force plane to bring home from Indonesia an Italian citizen who was gravely injured in a road accident in Bali last month, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Marco Raffaeli will be repatriated "in the next few days" after the road accident in Bali on 20 April, according to the statement.
"The humanitarian operation was made possible thanks to the tireless work of the Italian embassy in Jakarta," the statement said.
"Together with the foreign ministry, the embassy closely followed the case from the outset and has been in constant contact with the local authorities and with the hospitals where Raffaeli was being treated."
