Veteran diplomat Riccardo Guariglia on Monday became Italy's new ambassador to Spain and Andorra, the foreign ministry announced.
Guariglia, 59, has served as Italy's envoy to Poland and has held top posts in the foreign ministry in Rome and in Brussels including at the Permanent Delegation of Italy to NATO.
Born in the US city of Chicago to Neapolitan parents, Guariglia studied economics and commerce at the University of Rome, where he graduated with an honours degree in 1983 before entering the Italian diplomatic service in 1985.
