Italian government has approved 70 millions euro of aid and Kenya and Tunisia will receive over half of the funds, the foreign ministry said on Thursday, adding that deputy foreign minister Emanuela Del Re will soon visit the Horn of Africa, followed by other African regions.
Three more African countries - Senegal, Sudan and Somalia - will benefit from the newly approved aid package, as well as Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Bosnia Afghanistan and the UN culture organisation UNESCO, according to the foreign ministry statement.
The Development Cooperation Committee also earmarked five million euros to a project to involve businesses in overseas aid, the statement said.
