Italian beef and rice will be exported to China under two accords signed in Beijing, a major step towards overcoming barriers to exports of Italy's agro-food products to the economic superpower, the foreign ministry said Wednesday in a statement.
"Through is embassies and consulates around the world, the foreign ministry is doing its utmost to mitigate the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, not only by sourcing medical supplies and repatriating Italian citizens, but also by helping businesses and industry," the statement said.
Working in close cooperation with the agriculture ministry and with Chinese authorities, the foreign ministry fast-tracked the inking of Wednesday's accords "which will give concrete help to Italian exports at this especially difficult time," the statement said.
