Italy is "outraged" at the suspected Islamic State suicide blasts at a busy Baghdad market on Thursday that killed at least 32 people and injured at least 100, the foreign ministry tweeted on Thursday.
"Outraged by the news of the attack that hit Baghdad," read the tweet referring the twin suicide bombings which Iraq's government has blamed on IS.
Italy extends its condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a swift recovery to those injured," the foreign ministry tweeted.
"We strongly condemn violence against civilians and stand by the people of Iraq to build a peaceful and safe future," the tweet added.
The Iraqi government declared victory in its war against the jihadist group at the end of 2017. IS sleeper cells continue to wage a low-level insurgency in the country, however, operating mainly in rural areas and targeting security forces.
