The Italian government has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the southern Libyan city of Sebha on Sunday which was claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group.
"Italy condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack occurred in Sebha on June 6," read a foreign ministry tweet on Tuesday.
"We express our heartfelt condolences and our sympathy to the families of the security officials who paid the highest prices while serving their country."
Two security officers were killed and four others wounded in the car bomb attack, which drew condemnation from the Libyan government, parliament, UN mission and other western embassies in the country.
