Italy's foreign ministry has allocated a total 14.5 million euros to International Organisations and to bilateral and multilateral initiatives in Africa and Asia, as well as on several key foreign aid action and tools, according to a statement.
The total includes voluntary contributions of 6 million euros for the Italian Red Cross Committee, and of 1.7 million euros in favour of the International Organisation for Migration, the statement said.
Almost 1.5 million euros of finalised contributions have been assigned to a research project in Ethiopia and Djibouti run by the International Biotechnology Centre in Trieste; 1,1 million euros to a United Nations Development Programme project in Pakistan for monitoring glaciers to ward off a hydrogeological risk; 1,5 million euros to the National Diaspora Forum, and over 2 million euros to support, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Burkina Faso.
