Italy is to step up cooperation with Kuwait - a key ally in the fight against the Islamic State jihadist group, defence minister Lorenzo Guerini stated on Monday during a visit to the Gulf State.
"Italy and Kuwait have stood shoulder to shoulder for years in the fight against ISIS and to stablise the region," Guerini tweeted.
"I underlined to premier al-Sabah and to the foreign minister our satisfaction at our friendship and our defence collaboration. We are committed to strengthening both in the immediate future," the tweet added.
Earlier, during a visit to Al Salem military base, Guerini tweeted praise for Italian servicemen and servicewomen "who make Italy a key player in the fight against international terrorism."
