Italy and four other western nations have deplored the explosives-laden drone attack that targeted US forces in Erbil in Iraq's autonomous northern Kurdistan region on Wednesday - the first attack of its kind used against US soldiers in the city.
"We, the governments of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America condemn in the strongest terms the April 14 attacks in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region," read the statement.
The five countries said they would support an Iraqi government investigation into the attacks "too ensure that those responsible will be held accountable".
"We are united in our view that attacks on US and Coalition personnel and facilities will not be tolerated and reiterate our steadfast commitment to the fight against ISIS," the statement concluded.
No group has claimed the attack, in which no casualties were reported.
Some 20 bomb and rocket attacks have targeted bases housing US soldiers or diplomats in Iraq since US president Joe Biden took office at the end of January.
Dozens more attacks took place over the preceding 18 months. Washington consistently blamed pro-Iran factions for the attacks.
