Italy's foreign ministry on Monday commemorated the victims of coordinated suicide blasts at the main airport and a metro station in Brussels on 22 March 2016 which killed 32 people and injured over 300.
"Five years ago vile terrorist attacks hit Brussels. A heartfelt tribute to the victims, including Italian nationals, and to the injured," read the tweet.
The bombings at Zaventem airport and Maelbeek metro station were claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group.
Salah Abdeslam, a 31-year-old alleged French jihadist charged in the 2015 Paris attacks and nine other defendants will be tried next year for the Brussels blasts.
