Premier Giuseppe Conte on Monday denied claims his government is behind with plans on how to use 209 billion euros due from the European Union by 2023 to aid Italy's economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Conte rejected "misleading" and "baseless" media reports, stating: "We are not behind with our timetable... we are perfectly in line with the European Commission's terms."
"Guidelines will be issued in mid-October, details of projects will follow at the start of next year," Conte told a meeting of the Confagricoltura association in Rome.
