Italy opens permanent showroom in Korean capital

‘High Street Italia’, a permanent showroom for Italian quality products aimed at boosting business for Italian companies in Korea has opened in the capital Seoul, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Located in one of Seoul’s trendiest shopping districts, High Street Italia is an instrument and a container available to all Italian companies that want to promote and advertise their products in a market that is well-accustomed to Made in Italy products but which still has growth potential, also thanks to this project.

The showroom was opened by Italian Ambassador Federico Failla and by Vincenzo Calì, local director of Italy's foreign trade institute ICE in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday attended by 150 guests, the statement said.

Those attending the inauguration of the showroom included personalities from the world of business, culture, journalists, bloggers and influencers, and the initiative has already generated unprecedented publicity and which has already echoed an unprecedented show of interest, the statement added.

The project was organised by ICE with the support of Italy's economic development ministry in association with the Italian embassy in Seoul.

The continually expanding Korean market accounts for almost 1% of Italian exports and is worth over 5 billion euros - Italy's third-largest market in Asia and the first-largest in terms of population.

'High Street Italia' will grow Italian exports to Korea and aims to become a hub for Made in Italy products in Seoul, the foreign ministry statement said.
