Italy is set to work with United States president-elect Joe Biden and is sure his administration will give "fresh impetus" to multilateralism, transatlantic ties and the green economy among key areas, foreign minister Di Maio stated on Monday.
"Italy is ready to work closely with the new US administration that takes office on 20 January," Di Maio said, calling the US Italy's "chief ally".
"President Biden will be able to give fresh impetus to matters that Italy holds dear such as boosting effective multilateralism, renewed attention to the individual and the green economy and a re-launch of transatlantic relations," Di Maio went on.
Italy's presidency of the G20 this year has a focus on these themes, the minister underlined.
